We interviewed Jordi Ferré, co-founder of N3XT Sports. Read on to learn more about him, how N3XT Sports was founded, his role within the company, and a few tips about how to create your own company!
1. Jordi, you are one of the co-founders of N3XT Sports and the CEO of Kamleon. Tell us more about you, and about Kamleon.
I am an innovator, entrepreneur & sports physiologist. I lived, trained and worked at some of the world’s top institutions across three different countries: the USA, UK and Spain. I have been involved in both academic and private organizations mainly in the sports & consumer health industry where I occupied different founding, executive managing, R+D+I, business development & consultant positions. Besides being a co-founder of N3XT Sports, I am also the founder and the CEO of Kamleon, a science-based early-stage company developing user-centered technologies that aims to empower healthier and happier lives by democratizing the monitoring of health and wellbeing. In fact, Kamleon is pioneering new urinalysis integrated within smart urinal & smart toilets.
2. What was the reason behind creating N3XT Sports?
The sports industry is rapidly changing due to new & dynamic scenarios enabled by new technologies, innovation & business strategy. Between myself and the other co-founders, we realized there was a gap in identifying, understanding and implementing new structures within sports organizations that allow them to act with agility & speed. With the changing landscape, new stakeholders are emerging. Through N3XT Sports we have created a global ecosystem of rights holders, tech companies, investors and others to provide consulting and advisory services in 3 key areas: digital technologies & data strategy, end-to-end innovation, and investment strategy.
3. What’s your role at N3XT Sports, and in what projects have you worked on?
My role has evolved since the launch of the company as we have been growing in a very rapid manner. Initially, I was extremely involved in setting up the company from scratch and I was in charge of business development, value proposition design, among others. When the company started to have a growing portfolio of clients, I focused on some key accounts regarding entrepreneurship, venture capital & strategic innovation with different clients on a global scale. I was also leading activities related to the development of bespoke reports identifying new trends, and concepts that were impacting the sports industry. My current role is to provide strategic support on novel business lines and client-related projects.
4. As an entrepreneur what would be your advice to those who want to start their own business?
Before starting your own business, you must identify a clear problem to solve where you can bring a differentiated competitive advantage that can be scalable. Another key aspect is the founding team; building a company from scratch is not an easy task and will require a lot of time spending and sacrifice, so having a good relationship and involvement from your co-founders is key to take-off the company. Finally, dedicate yourself to something you are really passionate about.
